JULY 29 & 30 - PARIS to AVIGNON AND BONNIEUX
Monday I left Paris from the Gare de Lyon station on the 9:30 am TGV train to Avignon, arriving at 12:15. My little rental Renault “captur” took me, with a few mistakes in the round-abouts, to my picturesque B&B in Bonnieux. I couldn’t have picked a better spot; an authentic Provencal stone building, great breakfast, and a “killer view” of Mont Ventoux in the distance. Dinner Monday was in Goult with Jean and Michelle (Naples friends) at their incredible home, which Jean had designed and had built on a location with amazing views. Tuesday morning I was back in Gould for a 25 mile bike ride - on my rental BMC rental bike- with Jean and his friend and neighbor on a loop from Goult to Apt, Bonnieux, Le Coste and return. We crossed over Pont Julien in Bonnieux, a bridge built by the Romans around 3 BC. It was a Great Ride with hills, a rail trail and country roads through classic towns in Provence. We will ride again tomorrow, and on Thursday the Mont Ventoux.
